The chief executive of teleradiology services firm NightHawk Radiology Services of Coeur d'Alene, ID, has donated $1.5 million to the research and education foundation of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
The Oak Brook, IL, society said that Dr. Paul Berger, CEO and chairman of the board of NightHawk, made the donation for the Derek Harwood-Nash Scholar Grant in the RSNA's Research and Education Foundation. The donation is the largest individual gift and the first individual grant endowment in the history of the Research and Education Foundation, according to RSNA.
The gift is a tribute to the late Derek Harwood-Nash, M.B., Ch.B., D.Sc., who founded the subspecialty of pediatric neuroradiology and spent his life sharing his expertise with radiologists around the world. In honor of his influence on the international radiology community, the grant will focus on opportunities for international educators and investigators.
