Healthcare information systems firm McKesson of Atlanta introduced a number of new enhancements to its Horizon Cardiology PACS software at this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) show in Chicago.
McKesson has added improved support for noninvasive vascular reporting to the software, with support for more than 20 different vascular procedures. In addition, a new Web client gives users Web access to Horizon Cardiology features, enables batch downloading of studies, and lets users view data in either a compressed or uncompressed DICOM format based on the amount of data available.
Meanwhile, McKesson's Cardiology Hemo hemodynamic monitoring software now supports charting through an entire periprocedural event for cardiac cath labs, according to the company.
In corporate relationships, McKesson announced a deal with Mortara Instrument of Milwaukee that will allow Mortara's ELI electrocardiographs to communicate directly with Horizon Cardiology. Mortara's software will communicate bidirectionally and will receive a DICOM Modality Worklist with patient demographics and order information from the McKesson software.
In another new deal, McKesson has integrated clinical application packages from TomTec Imaging Systems of Unterschleissheim, Germany, to facilitate the viewing, analysis, and reporting of 3D and 4D echocardiography images. Cardiologists will be able to view and manipulate 3D and 4D echo images from echo carts at any Horizon Cardiology workstation.
Finally, McKesson signed an agreement with Cedaron Medical of Davis, CA, to integrate its CardiacCare registry platform into the Horizon Cardiology offering. CardiacCare provides data support for cardiologists for major national, regional, and state registries.
