Merge's auditing firm expresses concern

KPMG, the independent accounting firm for Merge Healthcare, has issued a "going-concern" qualification in the healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer's 2007 annual report.

The statement expresses what Merge describes as "substantial doubt" as to whether the Milwaukee-based company can continue to meet its financial obligations in the future without access to additional cash and cash equivalents.

Merge states in its annual report that additional cash likely would be necessary to fund its operations beyond the second quarter of 2008, and that it was considering all strategic options to address its current liquidity situation.
