Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare has released a new version of its eFilm Scan package, designed to scan conventional medical films with third-party digitizers, the Milwaukee-based company said.
eFilm Scan 2.0 can work without using an eFilm Workstation desktop DICOM viewer, according to Merge. The package supports all major film digitizers and provides TWAIN support for compliant flatbed scanners.
Films may be scanned at various resolutions as 8-, 12-, or 16-bit grayscale images, which can then be windowed or leveled, flipped, rotated, duplicated, or segmented within eFilm Scan. Users can send the images directly to a PACS as DICOM 3.0 studies with relevant patient information, or burn them to CD.
