Emageon reports revenue decrease in Q1 2008

Image management firm Emageon of Birmingham, AL, posted a decrease in revenues in the first quarter of 2008, the company reported.

For the period (end-March 31), revenue was $19.3 million, a 29% decrease compared with $27.4 million for the same period in 2007. Net loss for the quarter was $4.6 million, compared with $1.8 million the previous year. Included in the 2008 first quarter net loss was a charge of $800,000 for employee severance, the company said.

Emageon attributed the revenue decline to a more cautious attitude toward capital spending in its clients.
