Image storage firm Starpoint Global Services has introduced its X-ray On Demand service.
With X-ray On Demand, radiology departments and practices can store their patient films offsite and then request them as needed via telephone, fax, or a Web portal, according to the Carrboro, NC-based firm. Films are then digitized, converted into a DICOM format, window/leveled, and combined with an indexing of patient demographic and exam information, Starpoint said.
Then, encrypted for security, the image is sent directly into a hospital's PACS network via virtual private network (VPN), according to the company.
