Amicas posts higher revenues, lower loss in Q2

Orders from several large radiology groups helped PACS vendor Amicas produce 9% revenue growth in its second quarter.

For the period (end-June 30), the Boston-based firm had revenues of $13.6 million, up from $12.5 million in the second quarter of 2007. Amicas had a net loss of $97,000, compared with a net loss of $480,000 in the same period last year.

The quarter was the best second quarter for the company in the past several years, highlighted by solid bookings and revenue growth that was ahead of plan, according to president, CEO, and chairman Dr. Stephen Kahane. Several large radiology groups have also chosen to employ Amicas products as the basis for their automation infrastructure, he said.
