TomTec Imaging Systems of Munich, Germany, has launched 2D Cardiac Performance Analysis, a new package for its CardioArena echocardiography PACS software.
The package is a speckle tracking-based analysis tool that can analyze 2D data from various ultrasound scanners. This enables a cardiologist to study the behavior of the heart muscle quickly and easily, and quantitative assessment of displacement, velocity, and strain in individual muscle segments is available.
The package is useful in diagnosing pathologies such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, as well as dyssynchronous ventricles that might have to be treated by cardiac resynchronization therapy, according to the company.
