Medical imaging vendor Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, has been chosen to provide the initial test platform for a European Union-funded teleradiology project that aims to address the uneven spread of radiologists across Europe, the company said.
Carestream software will be used to help physicians share images remotely from hospitals in Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, and the Netherlands. The project, called R-Bay, will create an internal e-marketplace for e-health services in Europe that will enable pan-European distribution of radiologist resources across secure networks.
R-Bay will be using Kodak Carestream PACS for integrated applications such as image fusion and orthopedic surgical templating, as well as native 3D imaging and advanced cardiac features.
