Emageon

(Booth 8537) At this year's show, Emageon will devote attention to its Enterprise Content Management, Replicated Management Content, and offsite storage services.

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) is an enterprise-centric application designed to integrate in an open-systems framework with departmental diagnostic applications such as radiology, cardiology, and pathology PACS, according to the Birmingham, AL-based vendor. By consolidating imaging information over its life cycle, IT departments can gain a content management platform that departmental PACS can leverage for financial, operational, and clinical efficiencies, Emageon said.

Emageon's Replicated Content Management (RCM) package is designed to be part of an institution's business continuance plan, providing data replication at the application level. Developed to provide radiologists with the ability to access images through the PACS application during downtime, RCM provides replication and independent verification of DICOM data. Each node in the RCM environment performs independent data validation, reducing the risk of invalid DICOM data and duplication of file system corruption, Emageon said.

The vendor will also devote attention to its Emageon Off-Site Storage (EOSS) service. EOSS is available in three packages: NearLine, Basic, and Recovery.

In the NearLine model, the archiving and distribution of all medical images stored in the onsite cache is integrated with the offsite long-term archive; the near-line data is accessible on RAID and spinning disk storage in mirrored data centers that provide permanent storage, Emageon said.

The Basic model provides an offsite long-term archive without the added expense of mirrored offsite storage, while Recovery offers a secondary offsite archive designed to provide image retrieval during scheduled downtime and disasters, according to Emageon.
