Boston-based PACS vendor Amicas enjoyed another quarter of sharply higher revenues, thanks to sales contributed by its purchase of Emageon earlier this year.
For the company's third quarter (end-September 30), Amicas posted sales of $27.2 million, up 121% compared with sales of $12.3 million in the same period of fiscal 2008. The company turned a net profit for the period of $1.7 million, compared with a net loss of $809,000 in the comparable quarter of 2008.
Amicas said that it posted record bookings and revenue during the period. It also boosted its guidance for the fourth quarter, with a revenue estimate of $95.8 million, up $1 million from the company's previous guidance.
The company's estimate of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for the upcoming quarter were revised upward, to $4.6 million, representing an increase of $1 million.
