Software developer ETIAM will introduce version 3.20 of its Secure Medical Networking (SMN) image sharing service at this month's RSNA meeting in Chicago.
Version 3.20 adds support for bidirectional consultation, which allows practitioners in multiple locations to share both imaging data and a broad range of related patient files over the Internet, and to communication in real-time, ETIAM said. Image transfer protocols are also optimized according to the available bandwidth.
SMN version 3.20 accepts and integrates incoming studies whether they are in CD, film, or electronic format, ETIAM said. Image communication to the enterprise is also streamlined via customizable complex rule engines for routing of patient information, according to the vendor.
Four image transfer modes are now included with SMN version 3.20: traditional CD and film capture; Web upload on the fly from any location; SMN Agent gateway, which provides a secure link between two institutions; and SMN Community Nexus, which uses a secure link between two institutions as well as additional features such as customizable image routing, ETIAM said.
