Philips plans purchase of Richardson glassware unit

Philips Medical Systems has signed a letter of intent to acquire certain assets of Richardson Electronics' medical glassware business. Philips of Bothell, WA, would purchase the LaFox, IL-based vendor's glassware unit, including the reloading and distribution of x-ray, CT, and image intensifier tubes.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and the deal is subject to due diligence. Richardson will retain its medical monitor and display products business.
