Healthcare software developer Vocada has introduced VoiceLink, a voice messaging system designed to improve communication between radiologists and referring physicians. Upon completion of a patient study, a radiologist dials an 800 number assigned by the Dallas-based vendor, speaks the name of the referring physician, leaves a preliminary message regarding the patient, and then hangs up, Vocada said.
At that point, the VoiceLink service automatically routes the message to the referring physician, with messages being delivered directly to any combination of cell phones, land phones, pagers, and fax, the company said. VoiceLink also documents and archives the entire communication cycle, meeting Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandates as well as risk-management policies, Vocada said. The service is available now.
