Iotronics to offer silver recycling technology for medical x-rays

Itronics Metallurgical, a Reno, NV-based heavy-metal recycler, has designed and is now selling a compact, fully automated dual-chamber vacuum photochemical concentrator for use by medical x-ray facilities. The product separates silver-bearing developer and fixer chemical concentrates from the water used in photochemical solutions.

The photodeveloper and photofixer concentrates are shipped to the company’s processing plant for silver and other heavy-metal removal. The product reduces the volume of material that needs to be shipped for processing by more than 80% and makes it possible to recycle water at the processing location, while capturing 100% of contained silver, according to the firm.
