Varian repurchasing stock

Varian Medical Systems plans to repurchase up to two million shares of its common stock through the end of February 2004. The Palo Alto, CA-based firm recently completed an earlier repurchase program in which it spent $83.7 million for two million shares of stock at an average price of $41.86 per share. Varian said it would retire and cancel repurchased shares.
