In a move aimed at improving the efficiency and consistency of customer contact, Philips Medical Systems has restructured its North American sales and service region (SSR). The Bothell, WA-based firm has added a mid-America sales zone and reconfigured service zones to match the new five-zone sales structure. As part of the reorganization, approximately 200 positions were eliminated, according to the Bothell, WA-based vendor.
The reductions will eliminate redundancies created during past acquisitions, and are designed primarily to streamline management structure and consolidation of support operations, Philips said. In other moves, Philips has created a support operations department to be led by Randall Gifford. Marketing and sales support functions have also been consolidated within the firm's sales activities, which continue to be led by Randy Rountree.
Supply-chain management has been integrated with Philips customer services, managed by Steve Kellett. President and CEO Randy Dobbs, who was named to the post in April, will continue to lead Philips North American SSR.
