GEMS Q3 revenues grow 10%

GE Medical Systems turned in revenue growth of 10% for the third quarter, reported parent company General Electric of Fairfield, CT. And operating profit at the Waukesha, WI, medical division kept in lock step with sales growth, increasing 10% for the period (end-September 30).

For the quarter, GEMS reported revenue of $2.336 billion, compared with $2.13 billion in the third quarter of 2003. The division had operating profit of $383 million, compared with operating profit of $347 million in the same quarter the year before.

The company said that orders rose 8% in the quarter to $2.4 billion, led by a 29% increase in ultrasound products, to $224 million. Orders in China totaled $174 million, up 18% over the third quarter of 2002.
