Favorable currency effects boost Del revenues

Del Medical Systems Group reported sales of $56.1 million in fiscal 2003, up 2% compared with fiscal 2002. The gains were primarily attributable to approximately $5.2 million from a favorable exchange-rate effect, however.

At constant dollar-to-euro exchange rates, fiscal 2003 sales would have dipped by approximately $4.1 million, according to the Valhalla, NY-based vendor. For the year (end-August 2), the company had an operating profit of $1 million.

In other developments, Del said it had received an $8.5-million order from Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (I.M.S.S.) for 22 of its Mercury remote-controlled digital radiographic/fluoroscopic systems. Del expects to deliver and install the systems in fiscal 2004.

Del also received a $1 million order from the government of Vietnam to supply various radiographic and remote R/F systems. The systems are also scheduled for delivery during fiscal 2004.
