Vital Images of Plymouth, MN is showing its latest Vitrea release, version 3.4, and a new vessel probe that can segment out certain blood vessels at the RSNA show. The 3-D-software developer is touting its relationship with healthcare IT firm McKesson Information Solutions – Medical Imaging Group of Richmond, BC. Vital Images’ Vitrea software will be shown in both vendors’ booths.
Vital Images will show a general vessel probe option to Vitrea. Slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2003, this option provides one-click vessel analysis to radiologists examining CT and MR contrasted vessels to visualize and quantify the presence and extent of obstructive vascular disease.
Vitrea will provide CT lung analysis using 2-D and 3-D visualization tools, automatic measurements, and lung nodule report generation; and a CAD image analysis and visualization system from R2 Technology of Sunnyvale, CA. Available outside of the U.S., both companies are working to receive FDA clearance in early 2004.
Vital Images will also demonstrate a fusion imaging feature allowing for combination of medical images from the same or differing scanning modalities. This product is based on Fusion 70 software from U.K. developer Mirada Solutions. Vital Images expects to launch sometime in the first six months of 2004.
