Video-capsule manufacturer Given Imaging of Yoqneam, Israel, reported that Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield has expanded its existing coverage policy for capsule endoscopy to include initial diagnosis in patients with suspected Crohn’s disease.
The policy, which became effective on March 1, covers an exam for suspected Crohn’s disease without evidence of disease on conventional diagnostic tests such as small bowel follow through and upper and lower endoscopy, Given Imaging said.
