GE Healthcare revenues up 9% in Q3

Fueled by an 8% growth in orders, revenues at GE Healthcare reached $3.9 billion in the third quarter (end-September 30).

The 9% revenue gain compares with revenues of $3.6 billion in the third quarter of 2005. Third-quarter revenue was propelled by a 14% increase in global ultrasound revenues and an 8% increase in Life Sciences revenues. Segment profit for the division in the third quarter rose to $700 million, up 10% over $589 million in the same quarter a year ago.

For the nine-month period, revenues advanced 10% to $11.7 billion, compared with $10.6 billion in the same period of 2005. Segment profit climbed to $2 billion, up 19% from $1.7 billion from the same period a year ago.

Parent company General Electric expects its Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based segment's fourth-quarter profit to grow by 15% to 20% due to "strong equipment and services" growth.
