Siemens Healthcare has begun employee layoffs at its Malvern, PA, headquarters and other locations.
The process began August 12 to reduce the Healthcare division's total workforce by 2,800 jobs worldwide. A maximum of 1,250 additional layoffs will come primarily from the Imaging & IT and Workflow & Solutions divisions.
The company said that it will work with affected employees over the coming weeks to bring the layoffs to conclusion by the middle of September. Employees who received pink slips have been offered first priority for open positions within the organization, but not necessarily within the Healthcare division.
Each employee has been offered a severance program, career and placement services, and counseling.
