Multimodality vendor Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, has signed a five-year exclusive deal to supply medical imaging technology to Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Siemens' biograph 16 PET/CT, a 16-slice CT combined with a lutetium oxyorthosilicate (LSO) PET system, will be one of the first systems installed, Siemens said. MR, CT, ultrasound, and angiography technology from Siemens will also be provided to the facility. In addition, Siemens will collaborate with the hospital's staff on education programs focused on individual imaging modalities.
Siemens and Fairview-University Medical Center also are in discussions to develop a service agreement to cover all of the imaging equipment at the facility. The institution will be a regional technology showcase for each of the specific areas as each of the technologies is installed, Siemens said.
