Sony Medical Systems in Park Ridge, NJ, will start shipping its first 14 x 17 dry film imager in April, following Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance. The printer, called FilmStation, uses a dry thermal process and can output up to 70 CT and MRI films per hour.
FilmStation prints 12-bit (4,096 shades of gray) contrast resolution images at 320 dpi. Sony expects the product to be available in April at a suggested list price of $35,000.
