Boston Scientific gets FDA approval for Taxus

Interventional device developer Boston Scientific has received Food and Drug Administration marketing approval for its Taxus Express2 paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent system.

The Natick, MA-based company plans to launch the product in the U.S. immediately, and said it has ample inventory in all sizes. The Taxus product will use the Express2 coronary stent on the Maverick balloon catheter as its platform.

Boston Scientific introduced the Taxus system in Europe and other international markets in February 2003.
