Survey finds U.S. radiology compensation up 6%

Radiologist compensation climbed 6% to average $339,000 in 2002, according to an annual physician compensation and benefits report issued by healthcare consulting and staffing firm Martin, Fletcher. Radiology has been among the top five recruited specialties for the last three years, according to the Irving, TX-based firm.

Martin, Fletcher reported that over 60% of all hospitals and 50% of all medical groups the firm talks to are recruiting radiologists, with many searching for well over a year. Many top radiology candidates are seeking a benefits package that includes eight to 10 weeks annual vacation and an aggressive compensation plan, said vice president of physician recruiting Sean Jernigan.
