Imaging services provider Alliance Imaging reported first-quarter revenue of $105.6 million, up 2.8% compared with the $102.7 million posted in the same quarter of 2003. For the period (end-March 31), the Anaheim, CA-based firm had net income of $4.5 million, compared with net income of $6.9 million a year ago.
Both revenue and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) were above Alliance's first-quarter guidance range, said chairman and CEO Paul Viviano. He said that the company has made progress in stabilizing its core shared-service MRI business, and that its PET operations turned in 49% revenue growth in the first quarter.
Alliance also opened one MR imaging center in the first quarter, with two to three additional centers scheduled to open in the second quarter, Viviano said.
