The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) is honoring Damini Dey, PhD, with the 2025 SCCT Stephan Achenbach Pioneer Award in Cardiovascular CT.
This award is given annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of cardiovascular CT and have been recognized as pioneers in the modality's advancement. The society said it is recognizing Dey for her contributions to patient-specific risk prediction from quantitative CT and her research in AI-enabled derivation of imaging biomarkers from cardiac images. This work has uncovered relationships between coronary plaque and inflammation measured by cardiac CT and their changes with therapy.
Dey holds multiple titles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. These include being a professor of biomedical sciences and co-associate director at the Biomedical Imaging Research Institute and director of the Quantitative Image Analysis Program.
She has published over 800 papers and has presented at multiple conferences and workshops. Dey has also served as associate editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT), chair of the SCCT Innovation Series, and a member of the Annual Scientific Meeting Program Committee and Best Abstract Judging Panel.
The society will present the award to Dey at the SCCT 20th Annual Scientific Meeting opening session on Friday, July 18 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal in Quebec, Canada.
