The role of fatty acids in cardiac imaging.

Nuclear medicine has progressed in conjunction with the recent growth of molecular
medicine. Myocardial energy metabolism has long been investigated in experimental models
with the use of Langendorff's method or coronary sinus blood sampling. However, the
introduction of a variety of radiopharmaceutical agents has now made possible easy
visualization of myocardial energy metabolism in vivo with nuclear medicine techniques.
