Contrast agent firm E-Z-EM reported fourth-quarter net sales of $31.1 million, down slightly from the $31.6 million posted in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-June 2), the Westbury, NY-based firm had net earnings of $477,000, down from net earnings of $1.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2000.
Fourth-quarter earnings were impacted by lower sales, a $566,000 impairment charge related to the firm's investment in Cedara Software, and charges totaling $349,000 for relocation of its U.K. subsidiary and related severance expenses, according to E-Z-EM.
For the fiscal year, E-Z-EM had net sales of $113.3 million, down from net sales of $113.9 million in 2000. The vendor had net earnings of $3.3 million, down from $6 million last year.
