Dear AuntMinnie Member,
Just about four years ago today I became the first member of AuntMinnie.com, by registering the domain name in one of those 4 a.m. "aha!" moments during the Internet craze. The inspiration came from the late, great Dr. Ben Felson, who coined the term to describe a case with radiologic findings so specific and compelling that no realistic differential diagnosis exists.
Now it’s time to say so long to AuntMinnie’s 100,000-strong community, as I’m moving on to new pastures.
These past four years have been remarkably challenging, exciting, rewarding, and gratifying. I believe it may be an understatement to say that I have had the privilege of leading one of the best editorial, technical, and sales teams in the history of radiology publishing.
The employees of AuntMinnie.com have created a united global radiology community from virtually nothing, blazing a new trail for media and creating a unique new brand. I am personally grateful for the opportunity to have had a platform from which to communicate and understand the practice of radiology on a global stage through AuntMinnie.com, both in my travels, and through the magic of electronic communication with colleagues in almost every country on our planet.
But sadly, it is time for me to move on. My future looks exciting, and will allow me to participate in a number of opportunities to contribute to the health and care of many patients, both directly and indirectly, by practicing radiology, consulting, and participating on the boards of several medical device, healthcare IT, and biotechnology companies. My connection to AuntMinnie will remain strong through my membership on the site’s editorial advisory board.
As I leave I am confident that AuntMinnie.com will continue to flourish and chart a unique course for our community. I know that our community will continue to grow stronger because the voice of AuntMinnie.com is really ours --the community of radiology.
I look forward to seeing what the AuntMinnie.com team has in store for us, and I know that the best is yet to come.
