Dear PACS Insider,
This month we’re featuring articles on wireless networking and its applications for radiology.
Healthcare providers’ growing interest in mobile computing devices has become a catalyst for wireless technology development, according to radiology informatics expert Dr. Paul Chang. But security remains a concern, and will always be an issue with wireless implementations, said Chang, who is director of radiology informatics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Chang presented an overview of wireless networks and offered some practical advice during a talk at PACS 2004: Working in an Integrated Digital Healthcare Enterprise. As a PACS Insider, you have early access to this story. To read it, click here.
In another wireless-related article this month, researchers from the University Hospital Essen in Germany found that a tablet PC employed with a wireless network is an effective tool for providing image distribution to clinicians in bedside/acute situations. For that article, click here.
