Women's healthcare firm Gynesonics has announced that nonprofit health system MedStar Health has introduced its Sonata procedure for uterine fibroid treatment in the Maryland and Washington, DC, region.
The first Sonata procedure at MedStar Washington Hospital Center was performed by Dr. Vadim Morozov at the institution. MedStar Health consists of 10 hospitals, ambulatory care, and urgent care centers with 4,300 affiliated physicians.
The Sonata procedure utilizes an intrauterine ultrasound handpiece and radiofrequency energy to locate and target symptomatic uterine fibroids. The incision-free procedure offers women an alternative to hysterectomy and myomectomy for treating a range of fibroid types, sizes, and locations, according to Gynesonics.
