Marconi Medical Systems has introduced Infinite Detector, a new detector for its Mx8000 CT scanner. The new detector removes the constraints that previously limited the number of simultaneous slices that could be collected by the system, according to the Cleveland-based firm.
When installed on Mx8000, the first-generation Infinite Detector system will be able to acquire 16 simultaneous slices with submillimeter isotropic accuracy, according to Marconi.
Infinite Detector can cover more than four centimeters of patient anatomy in one second, according to Marconi. With the new detector, Marconi believes that diagnosis and evaluation of applications such as invasive coronary artery disease and whole-body polytrauma can be made in seconds.
