Philips Medical Systems has developed a 10-slice CT scanner and has installed the first system at the University Hospital Health System Geauga Regional Hospital in Chardon, Ohio. The 10-slice unit employs the same technologies and features that are available on the Andover, MA-based vendor’s Mx8000 IDT 16-slice CT scanner, such as Infinite Detector Technology (IDT).
The Mx8000 IDT10 system is capable of advanced cardiac imaging with a 0.42-second rotation time, submillimeter isotropic imaging, and a full suite of cardiac software packages, including a proprietary cardiac-gating algorithm, the manufacturer said. The system also includes the company’s DoseWise dose-reduction technology and proprietary data acquisition system based on IDT, Philips said.
