ATLANTA - Multimodality vendor Philips Medical Systems of Andover, MA, has introduced a new viewer for PET/CT studies at this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting.
The company's PET/CT Viewer is an application on its Extended Brilliance Workspace workstation, and enables users to review, display, and analyze PET, CT, and PET/CT images in a single, integrated user environment. Physicians also have access to cardiac PET and CT applications, including Emory Cardiac Toolbox, Heart Fusion, and Comprehensive Cardiac Analysis.
In cardiac MRI, Philips is showcasing for the first time its k-t BLAST (k-space time broad-use linear acquisition speed-up technique), which is designed to make cardiac MR up to five times faster than current methods. The application enables cine cardiac MRI in a single breath-hold while still maintaining quality images, according to the company.
The company's Healthcare Informatics group is highlighting two new components of its Xcelera cardiology information system. An upgraded Xcelera cath lab management module features productivity tools like procedure logging and clinical documentation support to enable faster report generation via point-and-click lists, while a new version of the company's Xcelera WebForum application allows physicians to view images and echocardiography reports over the Internet, from any location.
Philips is also touting its pending acquisition of Witt Biomedical, a Melbourne, FL, developer of hemodynamic monitoring and clinical information systems.
