Medical accessories developer Worldwide Innovations & Technologies of Overland Park, KS, has filed a lawsuit against Microtek Medical of Columbus, MS, charging that company with infringing on its patent for a radiation protection barrier.
Worldwide Innovations says that Microtek's RadBarrier product infringes on U.S. Patent No. 4,938,233 covering its RadPad device, which is designed to block radiation delivered to medical personnel during imaging studies. Worldwide Innovations filed the suit in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.
The lawsuit seeks a preliminary injunction enjoining Microtek from selling, promoting, or distributing RadBarrier. A representative from Microtek declined to comment on the litigation.
