AFP wins FDA nod for conebeam CT

Digital x-ray developer AFP Imaging of Elmsford, NY, has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market its conebeam CT scanner for dental applications, the company reported.

The company's NewTom VG conebeam CT scanner produces 3D images of the teeth and jaws, with its primary applications including diagnosis and treatment planning for dental implants, oral surgery, and ear, nose, and throat procedures.

The company has named Genexa Medical of Toronto as its exclusive Canadian distributor for the device, AFP Imaging said.
