More on 2D versus 3D VC; does radiology stress you out?

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The issue of 2D versus 3D primary interpretation of virtual colonoscopy exams is in the spotlight once again; we examine the topic this week in our Virtual Colonoscopy Digital Community.

In the story, AuntMinnie.com staff writer Eric Barnes examines recent studies that explore these two different approaches to VC image interpretation. Many in the VC community had settled into a sort of détente between the two, but the new studies revive the debate that one approach may have advantages over the other.

For example, one study found 2D to be relatively equivalent to 3D in terms of sensitivity and specificity, while the other found a definite edge to 3D interpretation. Find out what could account for the difference by clicking here, or check out our Virtual Colonoscopy Digital Community by visiting vc.auntminnie.com.

In other news, we're asking for your participation in a unique research project being conducted in collaboration with Dr. Bruce Reiner, director of research at the VA Maryland Health Care System in Baltimore. Dr. Reiner's group is examining the relationship between personality traits and career decisions among radiology professionals -- for example, do certain types of people gravitate toward certain types of radiology jobs?

To that end, we're asking AuntMinnie.com members to participate in a short survey that consists of a standardized personality test, with questions covering your personal preferences, stress levels, and interest in using new technology. Survey results will be correlated with the professions as stated by survey respondents to uncover any trends and relationships.

If you'd like to provide an e-mail address, we'd be happy to provide you with a report on how your responses compare to those of your peers. If you'd prefer to fill out the survey anonymously, that's fine too. As always, survey results will not be shared with any third party other than Dr. Reiner's research team.

You can get started on the survey by visiting personality.auntminnie.com.
