VC course aims to fill post-training gap

The University of Chicago is launching individualized training fellowships in virtual colonoscopy (also known as CT colonography, or CTC) aimed at physicians looking for additional reading experience following completion of a formal training course.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) recently introduced courses in VC, and several organizations and universities also offer formal courses. However, fewer opportunities are available for radiologists who desire additional experience, according to program director Dr. Abraham Dachman, a professor of radiology at the University of Chicago.

Dachman, an expert in abdominal imaging who has edited a book on virtual colonoscopy interpretation, is a member of the ACR's colon cancer screening and VC subcommittee.

The one-on-one fellowships provide access to a library of CTC cases for interpretation, with feedback from an expert reader. Additional information is available at the University of Chicago's Web site.
