Siemens Healthcare of Malvern, PA, has made the first U.S. installation of its Somatom Definition Flash dual-source CT scanner.
The new system is going into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, as part of an ongoing collaboration between Siemens and Mayo's CT Clinical Innovation Center.
Definition Flash can perform a 2-m scan in less than 5 seconds, and gated chest CTs become subsecond procedures. A scan of the entire heart can be performed in only 250 msec, according to the company.
