Medical imaging firm Analogic reported higher revenues and net income for the company's third fiscal quarter (end-April 30).
For the quarter, Analogic had revenue of $121.3 million, up 3% from revenue of $117.2 million in the third quarter of 2011. The company's net income for the most recent period was $7.3 million, compared with net income of $4.3 million in the corresponding quarter of 2011.
The company said that revenue growth in its security and ultrasound product lines offset lower results in its medical imaging business, which was "challenged" by customer ordering patterns and "European economic headwinds."
Revenue from Analogic's medical imaging segment was $72.8 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2012, down 2% from revenue of $74.6 million in the same period of fiscal 2011. Year-to-date, medical imaging revenue was $220.7 million, up 4% from the prior year.
The vendor's ultrasound segment revenue was $33.9 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2012, up 5% from revenue of $32.4 million in the same period of fiscal 2011. Year-to-date, ultrasound revenue was $109.6 million, up 16% from the prior year.
