Dear AuntMinnie Member,
The International Society for Computed Tomography's (ISCT) International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT is always a highlight for CT enthusiasts. But those who couldn't make it to San Francisco this year didn't have to miss out on the meeting's great content.
Through our collaboration with ISCT, we've been pleased to offer live video streaming of the symposium since the show began on Sunday. Live streaming will continue through the meeting's conclusion on Wednesday, June 20, and you can access it by visiting isct.auntminnie.com.
In addition to viewing the high-quality presentations, remote attendees can submit questions to ISCT presenters to be answered in real-time.
CT dose reduction
We also have coverage of a number of talks from ISCT, including an article on the benefits of iterative reconstruction techniques (IRT) in pediatric CT.
In a pair of presentations, researchers from the Medical University of South Carolina and Oregon Health and Science University shared how IRT has yielded significant and quantifiable dose reduction benefits, all without affecting image quality. Associate editor Kate Madden Yee was on hand for the talks, which you can read about by clicking here.
In another presentation from ISCT, Dr. Eliot Siegel of the University of Maryland discussed efforts to take CT dose-reduction tools beyond simulated image noise as a measure of image quality. Instead, Siegel and colleagues are striving to optimize dose based on what radiologists need to view for a particular application.
International editor Eric Barnes has our coverage of the talk; get the details by clicking here, or visit our CT Digital Community at ct.auntminnie.com.
