The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Education and Research Foundation has announced the five recipients of its fall 2012 professional research grants.
The following individuals received grants:
- Richard Weening, PhD, of Thomas Jefferson University, received a $10,000 grant to conduct a national MRI safety survey.
- Melissa Jackowski, of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received a $10,000 grant to investigate which leadership characteristics individuals working in radiology feel are most important.
- Jenny Soo, of BC Cancer Agency's Vancouver Centre, received a $10,000 grant to study the level of concordance between oncologists and radiation therapists in evaluating conebeam CT images for stereotactic body radiation therapy of the spine, liver, and lung.
- Brian Johnson, of Pennsylvania State University, received a $10,000 grant for a project that will use advanced neuroimaging techniques to evaluate the effect of subconcussive head trauma in athletes.
- Jeff Killion, PhD, of Midwestern State University, received a $5,000 grant to investigate whether educators are experiencing burnout and other adverse health effects as a result of using "smart" devices.
