The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared a new 50-kW generator option for the Aquilion Lightning CT scanner from Toshiba America Medical Systems.
Aquilion Lightning is a 16-detector-row CT scanner designed for routine volumetric scanning, the firm said. It has a small footprint to allow providers to save on both space and cost, offers the PureVision CT detector technology that is used in other Toshiba CT systems, and includes Toshiba's adaptive iterative dose reconstruction (AIDR) 3D radiation dose reduction protocol to help reduce dose and improve patient safety.
The unit also comes with the company's Adaptive Diagnostic software, such as single-energy metal artifact reduction (SEMAR) and SureSubtraction.
