Siemens to launch CT for radiation therapy at ASTRO

Siemens Healthineers plans to launch a new work-in-progress CT scanner for guiding radiation therapy at the upcoming American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in Boston.

Somatom Confidence RT Pro is a dedicated CT scanner that includes a new version of the company's syngo.via RT Image Suite software. It provides relative electron density images in a single-energy scan using the company's new DirectDensity algorithm, producing images with a wider range of tube voltages and supporting better image quality, according to the firm.

The device also features Siemens' iterative metal artifact reduction (iMAR), DirectDensity's adaptable kV settings, and a new detector, the company said.
