Toshiba Medical Research to build center in Baltimore

Toshiba Medical Research Institute USA has joined with New East Baltimore Partnership to build a medical research center at the Johns Hopkins Science and Technology Park in Baltimore.

The new center will focus on next-generation technology that will offer opportunities for research on advanced medical imaging projects. The center will be led by Dr. Joao Lima, a professor of medicine, radiology, and epidemiology at Johns Hopkins. Helen Montag, director of business development for Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, played a key role in attracting Toshiba, the organizations said.

The Science and Technology Park at Johns Hopkins currently contains 683,000 sq ft of research-related space. The Park is more than 90% occupied, with 1,200 workers and 30 companies working in labs, offices, and retail locations.
