Advanced visualization firm Sapheneia and radiation dose tracking technology developer Scannerside have received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for the second generation of their Scannerside XR-29 Dose Check offering for CT radiation dose management.
The new XR-29 Dose Check package includes proprietary hardware and software designed to provide CT operators with notifications and alerts of potential radiation doses over a predefined threshold -- prior to a scan being performed, according to the companies. Sapheneia and Scannerside said the vendor-neutral product can be used with all types of CT scanners that aren't equipped with those functionalities.
