CurveBeam lands Vizient contract for CT

Imaging device vendor CurveBeam has landed a contract with group purchasing organization Vizient for its pedCAT and InReach extremity CT scanners.

The contract was awarded based on a recommendation of pedCAT and InReach for orthopedic extremities by one of Vizient's member-led councils and signals that the systems demonstrate an ability to enhance clinical care or patient safety. The contract was awarded under the Vizient Innovative Technology program.

PedCAT permits high-resolution CT imaging of the foot and ankle while the patient is in a standing position, and it can scan both feet in a single scan, according to CurveBeam. InReach provides high-resolution CT scans of the hand, wrist, and elbow in less than 25 seconds.

Both systems are self-shielded and plug into a standard wall outlet. They provide ultralow-dose scans, and the effective radiation dose exposure is comparable to that of an x-ray, according to the firm.
